Managed IT Support
One agreement covering your users, devices, Microsoft 365 and the systems the business runs on, with the responsibilities written down.
Explore managed it support →Essex businesses rarely sit in one building. A firm in Chelmsford has people working from home two days a week, a Colchester office shares systems with a warehouse near Thurrock, and a Southend team needs the same Microsoft 365 account to behave on a laptop at a client site. IT support for Essex has to hold that together. We take the day-to-day helpdesk, keep Microsoft 365, networks, servers and backups in order, and send an engineer out when a fault needs hands on the hardware.
It covers the helpdesk your staff contact when something stops working, and the background work that stops things breaking in the first place: Microsoft 365 and user accounts, laptops and desktops, the office network and any servers, patching, backups and cyber security. An engineer attends in person when the fault is physical. For most Essex businesses the practical test is whether one provider owns all of that, or whether your office manager is still ringing three suppliers.
Staff raise an issue one way and an engineer owns it from triage to fix, rather than passing it between suppliers.
Monitoring, patching and maintenance catch the failures that would otherwise become a morning without email.
Identity, devices, email filtering, patching and backups are managed together, because an attacker treats them as one target.
Remote fixes clear most tickets the same day. When the job is a switch, a cable run or a dead machine, an engineer comes to the site.
Most Essex businesses want one provider for the helpdesk and the infrastructure behind it. These are the services that make that up, each with a page of its own if you want the detail.

Usually a licensing muddle, a mailbox nobody can get into, or multi-factor authentication set up against a phone somebody no longer has. Licensing, mailboxes and MFA are all in scope.
Wi-Fi that drops in half the building, a switch nobody has documented, or a second site that was cabled by whoever was available. Network faults are the most common reason an engineer travels.
Plenty of Essex offices still run a server, often because one application needs it. It needs patching, monitoring and a tested recovery plan whether or not the rest of the business has moved to cloud.
The question is almost never "do we have a backup". It is whether anyone has restored from it. That includes Microsoft 365, which Microsoft does not back up for you.
Most tickets never need anybody to travel. An account lockout, a mailbox that will not sync, a laptop that cannot see the shared drive: all of it is quicker over a secure session than waiting for a van on the A12. That matters more in Essex than in a single-office business, because the person with the problem is as likely to be at home in Billericay as at the desk you bought them.
Some work cannot be done remotely. A failed switch, a cabling job, a server that will not boot, a new office that needs fitting out. Engineers travel from Crawley and reach Essex sites along the M25, A12, A127 and A13 corridors, and attendance is agreed against the priority, the skills needed and the scope in your service schedule rather than promised as a blanket time.
Splitting them is how businesses end up paying twice and still getting breached.
Nearly every incident we see starts with a sign-in that should not have worked. Multi-factor authentication, conditional access and sensible admin rights do more than any product bought afterwards.
Invoice fraud against Essex businesses does not need malware. It needs one mailbox and a forwarding rule nobody checked. Our guide to business email compromise explains how it runs.
Operating systems, browsers, firmware and the applications nobody owns. We hold Cyber Essentials certification ourselves, and the control it tests hardest is the one most businesses skip.
If ransomware reaches the file server, the only question that matters is how recent and how tested the restore is. That includes Microsoft 365 data.
A ten-person firm in Brentwood has the same security obligations as a company ten times the size, and far less time to meet them. What changes is how the support is bought: a fixed monthly cost per user, a clear scope, and no expectation that somebody in the office doubles as the IT person. Our small business IT support page sets out how that works, and five signs your business needs managed IT support is a fair test of whether you are there yet.
Plenty of Essex businesses have one capable IT person who is stretched thin and cannot be on holiday. Co-managed support gives them a bench: out-of-hours cover, specialist work they would otherwise outsource anyway, and somebody to answer the helpdesk while they get on with a project. The split of responsibilities is written into the service schedule so nobody assumes the other side is handling it.
We publish our rates, which is less common in this industry than it should be. All prices are per user per month and exclude VAT.
Helpdesk and remote resolution for businesses whose problems are almost always software, accounts and devices.
Adds proactive monitoring, patching and maintenance, with onsite attendance available under the agreed scope.
For businesses that have to show clients, insurers or a regulator how their systems are protected.
The full scope, for organisations where downtime costs more than the support does.
The risk in changing provider is not the technology, it is the handover. What usually goes missing is the list: domain registrar logins, the Microsoft 365 global admin account, firewall credentials, the backup console, which licences are actually being paid for, and who holds the recovery keys. We work through that list before anything moves, and the outgoing provider is asked for it in writing. If you are weighing it up, how to switch IT support providers walks through the sequence.
A free IT audit is a review of what you actually have: users, devices, Microsoft 365 tenant, backups, network kit, support arrangements and the problems that keep recurring. It produces a picture of what needs attention and what is fine as it is. You are not obliged to buy anything, and plenty of the findings are things you can fix yourself. Our IT audit page explains the scope.
Essex is large and the working patterns change across it. These are the parts of the county we are asked about most.
Professional services, finance and insurance offices with hybrid staff and a commute into Liverpool Street. Mostly Microsoft 365, mostly remote work, with occasional network and hardware jobs.
A mix of offices, education and light industry, often further from a provider than they would like. Remote resolution matters more here, and documentation matters most.
Retail, leisure, healthcare practices and growing SMEs. Card systems, practice software and multi-site Wi-Fi come up far more often than they do inland. We also have a page for IT support in Basildon.
Logistics, distribution and manufacturing around the ports and the A13. Warehouse networks, scanners and shift patterns that do not stop at 17:30, which is where out-of-hours cover earns its place.
Most disputes with an IT provider come from something nobody wrote down. These are the things worth insisting on, from us or from anyone else you are considering.
Which users, devices, sites and systems are covered, and which are explicitly not. Vague scope is how a support contract turns into an argument.
What counts as urgent, who decides, and what happens when the first engineer cannot resolve it. Response means acknowledgement, ownership and triage; it is not a promise that the fault is already resolved.
Your domain, your Microsoft 365 tenant, your firewall. A provider should hold the keys on your behalf, not instead of you.
What you get back and in what form if you leave. Ask before you sign, not afterwards. Our guide to what to look for in an IT support contract covers the rest.
The kit looks similar from one business to the next. The obligations, the users and the hours do not. These pages set out how the support changes.

What the delivery models actually cost, how to compare them honestly, and what a support contract should say.
The commercial and practical questions Essex businesses ask before they change provider.
All of it, with the service weighted towards remote resolution. We support businesses in Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Brentwood, Harlow, Braintree and the Thurrock area. Onsite attendance is arranged against the priority of the fault, the skills it needs and the scope in your service schedule, rather than offered as a blanket response time.
Our published rates are £29.95, £49.95, £69.95 and £94.95 per user per month plus VAT, depending on whether you need remote cover, proactive management, added security or the full scope. Price per user is the honest way to compare providers; what IT support costs a UK small business explains what sits behind the number.
Both. Most tickets close remotely because that is faster for the user, but an engineer travels when the work is physical: a failed switch, cabling, a server that will not start, a device rollout or an office move. Which faults trigger an onsite visit is agreed in advance rather than decided case by case.
Yes, and it is a common arrangement. The support follows the users rather than the building, so somebody working from a Chelmsford office one day and a London site the next gets the same service. We have a separate page for IT support in London if that is where most of your people are.
No. Co-managed support is designed around it. Your IT lead keeps ownership of the things they are best placed to run, and we cover the helpdesk, out-of-hours, holidays and the specialist work that would otherwise be outsourced anyway. The split is written into the service schedule so neither side assumes the other is handling something.
They are yours throughout. Your domain, your Microsoft 365 tenant, your firewall and your backups are held on your behalf, and you get administrative access and documentation back on exit. It is worth asking any provider this before you sign; it is a great deal harder to ask afterwards.
Essex businesses often have staff or a second site over the boundary. These pages cover the same managed IT, cyber security and onsite engineering.

Free IT audit
Most businesses are surprised by at least one thing in an audit: a licence nobody uses, a backup that has never been restored, or an admin account belonging to somebody who left. The review is free and you are not obliged to buy anything from it.
Tell us how many users you have, where they work and what keeps going wrong. That is enough for us to say what we would look at first.
